What on Mars is that? Google Mars reveals Satellite images of a human base on Mars

What on Earth—ehm, I mean Mars are we looking at here? If you follow the following link, youll arrive at Google Mars (Maps)—a program that allows you to explore Mars through official satellite images gathered by different spacecraft orbiting the planet—where you will see a MASSIVE base on the surface of the red planet. But not everything is as it seems.

Is this the final, most definitive proof that we’ve actually been to Mars and that there are structures on the surface of the red planet? I can’t believe my eyes, this looks too good to be true.

But… while everyone would love for this to be true, and numerous websites have rushed forward to suggest this is the most definitive proof of a secret space program, life on Mars, and that everything related to NASA is a giant conspiracy theory, the truth is that you are mistaken.

I felt the need to clear this up.

If you take a look at the coordinates (click here) you will notice that the link will take you straight to Google Mars where you will be in for a surprise.

The ‘base on Mars’ looks almost as if it was taken from the movie the Martian. Solar Panels, a satellite dish, and countless buildings connected by barely visible roads are on display on the surface of Mars.

And while this may be very very convincing, the truth is that it’s just one of the many jokes made by Google. This one specifically was an April fools joke.

But, are you sure it’s not a conspiracy? Yup, pretty sure.

According to Google Cloud Platform, and a post written on Friday, March 31, 2017, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is committed to meeting our customer’s needs—no matter where they are.

The blog post reads:

“Amidst our growing list of new regions, today we’re pleased to announce our expansion to Mars. In addition to supporting some of the most demanding disaster recovery and data sovereignty needs of our Earth-based customers, we’re looking to the future cloud infrastructure needed for the exploration and ultimate colonization of the Red Planet.”

You gotta’ admit, Google has a great sense of humor… right?

The post continues: “Mars has long captured the imagination as the most hospitable planet for future colonization, and expanding to Mars has been a top priority for Google. By opening a dedicated extraterrestrial cloud region, we’re bringing the power of Google’s compute, network, and storage to the rest of the solar system, unlocking a plethora of possibilities for astronomy research, exploration of Martian natural resources and interplanetary life sciences. This region will also serve as an important node in an extensive network throughout the solar system.

Our first interplanetary data center—affectionately nicknamed “Ziggy Stardust”—will open in 2018. Our Mars exploration started as a 20% project with the Google Planets team, which mapped Mars and other bodies in space and found a suitable location in Gale Crater, near the landing site of NASA’s Curiosity rover.”

As you can see, it’s not actually there—the big a** Martian facility, but it’s been rather portrayed on Mars intentionally.

But, if they can do that, what else could they remove? Add?

Doesn’t that make you think a little bit about the images from Mars? If they can be so easily manipulated, how do we know we haven’t been fooled before?

A bit of conspiracy can’t hurt, can it?

Anyway, this is just one of the many big G’s April Fools Day jokes.

According to cognitiveseo, here are the most fascinating Google April Fool Jokes.
