According to Daily Mail, angler Lee Parker was fishing at Bluewater Lake in France when he accidentally caught a giant goldfish.
Parker noticed something very large biting the bait. The British man felt a strong pull that almost made him fall into the water.
Parker, from Banbury, near Oxford, said the experience was like “sitting on a bullet train”. He had to hold on to his rod and dig his heels into the bank to avoid being pulled into the water.
After about 10 minutes of struggling, Parker finally subdued the giant goldfish, placed it in a net, and brought it to shore. Parker measured the fish’s length and weight, then released it back into the lake.
According to Daily Mail, the giant goldfish is 1.2 meters long and weighs 27.7 kg, too big for any normal aquarium. This goldfish named Carrot, was released into a lake in France 20 years ago.

Not many people have the chance to catch this giant goldfish because it rarely appears.
Jason Cowler, manager of Bluewater Lake, said: “We released this goldfish called Carrot into the lake 20 years ago to attract anglers. Since then the goldfish has grown steadily but it is very rare to see it.”
Carrot is currently believed to be the world’s largest living goldfish. The previous record holder was a goldfish living in Minnesota, USA in 2019. This goldfish weighed only 13kg, half the size of Carrot.
