She was collapsed on the street, exhausted and thirsty, desperately licking a rock for water. Her condition was dire, and it was clear she had been suffering for a long time. But when I approached her to help, she still fought back a little bit, showing that glimmer of hope and resilience in her eyes.

Coco’s skin was severely infected, making her look like a monster. It was no wonder that people shooed her away and no one dared to save her. Local reports revealed that she had been living in a landfill for the past 4-6 months, scavenging for food in the trash and drinking rainwater to survive. Her eyes showed deep scars from past mistreatment by humans, and she didn’t trust easily.

When I finally managed to bring her to the vet, she collapsed again. Her body was weak, and she needed a blood transfusion and sugar boost to revive her. Further tests revealed that her digestive system was also infected, likely from consuming contaminated food. Shockingly, we found traces of poisoned food in her stomach, raising suspicions that someone may have deliberately harmed her.

Despite the odds stacked against her, Coco showed incredible resilience. After 32 hours in the vet’s care, she still couldn’t stand up and struggled to control her body movements. But she weakly licked water, showing a small sign of improvement. The next day, she started eating a bit, which was a glimmer of hope.

Finally, after a week, Coco was allowed to go home with me. She still needed extensive care, but I was determined to do everything I could to help her recover. It was a long and challenging journey, but seeing her slowly regain her strength and trust in humans was worth every effort.

Today, Coco is a completely different dog. Her once infected skin has healed, and her fur has started to grow back. Her eyes no longer show fear, but instead sparkle with gratitude and love. She has become a beloved member of my family, and I couldn’t imagine my life without her.
