All of us at some point in our lives have been afraid of something, from things as common as darkness or heights, to others that are a little more strange. The protagonist of our story became a true hero by overcoming one of her greatest fears in life in order to save a life.

Anita Valkova, just 16 years old, rescued a defenseless dog who was lying injured in a schoolyard in Bulgaria while some students threw rocks at her to hurt her. Anita had always been afraid of dogs, but when she saw this group of children throwing rocks at the injured puppy, she couldn’t stand by.

Our brave young lady posted the album titled “ Alfeiya’s Recovery ” on Imgur , hoping that people will look at it and it will motivate them to respect animals.

“I was at school when I saw her. Several kids were throwing rocks at her and she was covered in blood so I had to act fast.”

“I called my father, who I don’t talk to much, and he said he could help me in a couple of hours. I sat next to the puppy to wait for her to arrive and when she did, he gave me a blanket to catch her and take her to the vet on foot, because he was not going to let her in the car ».

When she was finally taken to the vet they cleaned her up and gave her antibiotics as she had some sort of mange

The next day, Anita’s mother went to see her and the young woman convinced her to adopt her with the help of the doctors.

All the efforts of Anita and her family were worth it just to see this beauty safe and sound

Alfeiya finally arrived at Anita’s home on December 30, 2015 and they have been inseparable ever since.
