His response to being let free is likely to make you cry!

Thailand is known for its elephants, and some individuals use them to urge tourists to ride on their backs for money in exchange for thrills and smiles. Behind those happy grins, however, is an elephant that is being tortured and is doomed to serve as a trekker for the rest of his life. Years passed, and animal rights activists hoped to end the cycle of cruelty. One group was successful in practically breaking one, releasing Khum Min, a poor, aged trekking elephant.

In Northern Thailand, Khum Min is a trekking elephant.

Khum Min is an Asian Elephant, and one of the world’s most endangered elephant species. He had been assigned to work as a trekker from birth and was living in a trekking camp. Unfortunately, instead of providing him with a carefree existence, Khum Min’s mahout/minder at the camp molested him.

The elephants in the camp were all tethered and deprived of their freedom in all they did. These gorgeous creatures grow old being handled in this manner, and it is distressing to know that they are imprisoned in this manner.

The plight of the elephant drew the attention of a group of people.

Khum Min’s condition devastated a bunch of people, so they resolved to remove him out of the hiking camp. They gently tugged on its leash and led it outdoors, caressing its trunk to reassure it.

They walked with the beautiful elephant all the way to the release place in Northern Thailand, speaking to him with nice words to calm his nerves. Khum Min was standing on a new piece of grass, surrounded by nature’s greenery, as they arrived at the place.

Khum Min was busy coating himself in the mud he scooped with his lengthy trunk, which was encrusted with chains around his neck and legs. After a little discussion, the rescuers were ready to release him by removing the chains that bound him.

While one guy was attempting to take the chain from the elephant’s neck, another stood alongside him, caressing the elephant’s trunk and said, “…you’re a handsome lad, aren’t you?” You’re going to have a lavish lifestyle.” That was the easy part, but Khum Min’s legs were still encircled in shackles.

He can walk without being taught to.

They were eventually able to untangle him from every chain that had ensnared him, albeit with some difficulty on one leg. Khum Min took his first step alone, without anybody telling him to, the instant the chains fell to the ground.

For him and everyone around him, it was a tremendously satisfying moment. Who knows how long the rusted shackles had been on him? However, there is no need to be concerned because Khum Min is now officially free. He was then sent to a rural settlement, where he was introduced to the other elephants in the hopes that they would reproduce in order to save their species.

Elephants in Asia are being saved.

Asian elephants are one of the most endangered elephant species on the planet. They are victims of poaching and habitat destruction, putting their lives and the lives of their whole species at risk all across the world. Furthermore, there are only 30,000–50,000 Asian elephants in the globe, which is a modest number when compared to other species.
