During a visit to a wildlife sanctuary in South Africa, Germany-based photographer Sasan Amir received a delightful surprise from a cheetah.

As the 27-year-old photographer focused on capturing images, the massive feline quietly approached and gently rested its head against him.

Amir recounted the encounter, sharing,” I slowed my movements and stood up, looking at the cheetah to signal that I was aware of its approach. Curious yet cautious cheetah sniffed me at first, then began to purr and affectionately rub its head against me.”

Reflecting on the extraordinary moment, Amirsaidd said,” It took a few minutes for me to grasp the rarity of that once-in-a-lifetime experience. Having visited this sanctuary multiple times, I noticed this cheetah was accustomed to human interactions.”

This encounter wasn’t an isolated incident for Amir. He has developed a close bond with this magnificent creature over five years of photographing big cats.

However, he emphasizes that earning the trust of wild animals requires immense patience, respect, and time.

Amir shared another memorable experience: “Once, a leopard, concealed in thick bushes, was nearby. It locked eyes with me, then leisurely settled down for a nap. It realized I posed no threat and cherished its comfort in my presence”.”
