A rescued dog managed to completely transform thanks to the love she received from those who helped her. She was rescued just in time to change her sad fate.
The world needs true heroes, real people willing to make a difference and perform great works of love that end up changing the lives of the most vulnerable furry ones .
Fortunately, there are many people who continue to bet that all the answers are in love, the main means to transform lives and give second chances.
This is how Mikita , the sweet protagonist of this case, went from being a lump of skin and bones, to a fluffy and soft ball of fur .
At the time of her rescue, she was on the brink of death, malnourished and covered in scabies.
The love of her rescuer was so great that she never gave up despite having everything against her. Mikita lived as a stray on a reservation in South Dakota when a Lightshine Canine volunteer saw her and decided to rescue her. She was completely malnourished and with the exposed skin . Her condition was so critical that her rescuer couldn’t tell from her if she was of any race.
Only shortly thereafter, the dog was transferred to Happy Tails Rescue who took her in and began treating her for mange.
The transformation of the dog was slow but with the best results.
It was a long process, but it was in the best hands, little by little it began to grow gray and white fur that gradually covered its body . It was then that they realized it was a husky .
Fortunately, it didn’t take long for Mikita to find a family, Jessi Sova learned of her story through Facebook and without thinking, she approached the shelter with her son to be able to adopt her.
“She was so little and just the sweetest little thing. My son had come with me to meet her and we both fell in love . ” Sova said.
In her new home, Mikita finished her treatment to improve her fur, but she faced a new challenge. Sova realized that something was wrong with Mikita’s back, activities as simple as playing and sleeping caused her a lot of pain . In this regard Sova commented:
“It was like having a baby at home. I would wake up several times a night and I would have to figure out what I needed (if anything).
One night, I woke up to his barking, he couldn’t stand on his hind legs . A friend took us to the emergency vet.”
After two days of complex examinations, she was diagnosed with discospondylitis , a degenerative, non-inflammatory disease of the spine. It was necessary for her to take antibiotics in order to appease her pain.
Despite her difficult past, this adorable fluffball continued to prove that she was quite the warrior .
“It took him a long time to build up his strength and stamina, his back doesn’t bend much, but he does it very well . I swear her fur is getting longer and longer. I don’t think we’ve reached the maximum yet.” Sova said.
Unbelievably, the treatment gave the best results. Her transformation reminds us that with love all things are possible . Today Sova can’t imagine her life without her, he just wants to make sure she’s okay and show her how much he loves her.
“I can’t imagine life without her. It’s so silly and interesting. Watching her heal and grow, I’m not sure I have the words for her to express how she feels.
Sometimes it’s bittersweet because I think about her condition when she was rescued , but I also think about how lucky I am to have such a sweet baby.”
Mikita achieved an incredible transformation thanks to the love and care of her mother and all her rescuers. Today she is a happy and strong dog who enjoys this new opportunity.
