A dog is that faithful companion that will be by your side at any time in your life, the one that will be happy about your triumphs and will try to cheer you up in your sadness. Although few know it, his acute sense of smell is what makes them distinguish our state of mind and in the case of a nursing student’s pet, that ability is highly developed.
Amme Nepomucemo, the person in charge of this dog, has not had an easy year. Like the rest of the world, she had to deal with the uncertainty of confinement due to Covid-19 and all the consequences that this pandemic has brought; among them the complicated end of a university career.
Before the world came to a standstill, Amme was in her final year of school to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing. The girl gave her all the desire to reach the goal and be the nurse she always dreamed of, but everything got complicated with the arrival of the pandemic.
The rhythm of the classes changed and all those new difficulties that she had to face led her to suffer from stress. At some point along the way she even thought that all was lost and she could not graduate, but then her loving dog Spex came into action, who helped her get ahead.
For those who have a dog at home, it is logical to understand how important that company can be at times like this.
“Of course, when I was feeling stressed, just having him around was more motivating ,” Ms. Nepomucemo confessed.
But it turns out that this little ball of hair was more than company, strange as it may seem, the dog served the student in her practices during confinement. With a large wave of infections in the city, the young woman could not attend hospitals to provide service, since she was not allowed to be a graduate.
“With nursing school during COVID, I had to be creative practicing my skills, so I would sometimes take Spex assessments during internships,” Nepomuceno said.
But this faithful dog was not only a support for his human during the last year, but from the first moment he came into his life.
Spex has been by Amme’s side throughout the race and for that reason the girl decided that achievement was hers as well.
The nurse shared her triumph with the dog and the best way to celebrate it was by making it part of the graduation photo session. Because it was a more than special date, this canine graduate had to dress according to the moment and for them Spex posed with a cap and gown made to measure for him.
Although the dog didn’t seem to understand much of what was happening, he was happy to wear this curious outfit with his mommy.
With a black bandana hanging from her neck, Spex said goodbye to nursing classes and pleased mom by giving her the most beautiful graduation souvenirs.
“I love all the photos. He is such a big baby, he is my everything,” Nepomucemo said.
Although in theory the session was to celebrate the girl’s achievement, from her humility Amme could not help but recognize how fundamental her dog was in this goal; and without a doubt, that the corgi ended up gaining everyone’s attention in the peculiar photographs.
Amme and Spex make a fantastic team, so surely this will be just one of many wins they will achieve together. There is no doubt that the girl loves her dog and the truth is that we are immensely pleased to know that there are people who are so grateful to her pets.
Let’s always give our furry the treatment and recognition they deserve in our lives, they are true angels for us here on earth. Love them!
