A Chihuahua puppy and a little dove are melting hearts since they were put together in the same bed. They developed a truly adorable and indestructible bond.
When friendship is sincere, there is no impediment that can stop it, not the size, not the age, not even the species, or if one of the two friends has wings. As an adorable Chihuahua puppy and a pigeon, both disabled , have shown that they have forged the strongest of friendships.
The puppy and the pigeon became unconditional friends
Lundy is a two-month-old Chihuahua puppy who is facing a great battle to recover the movement of his legs and to be able to walk again , due to damage to his spine.
It weighed less than 100 grams
Herman is a mischievous pigeon who cannot fly. The two little animals met a month ago at the MIA Foundation , an animal rescue center in New York, United States.
The first to arrive at the shelter was the pigeon, a couple of years ago, after being found on the ground outside a car dealership. An injury to its wings sadly prevents this beautiful bird from flying.
Lundy arrived at the place a month ago and it was then that he received the most welcoming welcome from Herman.
The day of the first waste of love was about to happen. Sue Rogers, the founder of the organization, was doing a daily checkup on the Chihuahua and while that was going on she wanted to see what the performance of these two animals would be when they were together.
The atmosphere was a bit tense and soft cooing from the dove could be heard in the background. A wide stretcher sank slightly, with small steps of four legs that approached for the inevitable meeting, a few seconds had passed before Sue saw them again and in the blink of an eye they were already snuggled up next to each other.
“I put Herman in a dog bed and started taking care of Lundy. Later, I decided to carefully put Lundy in the same dog bed, next to her. They immediately started interacting in a very cute way,” said Sue Rogers, the founder of the center.
Both Herman and Lundy have not had an easy life. Sue’s initial goal was to fix Lundy’s mobility problem , with the help of a wheelchair, and find an adoptive family for him.
They’re so cute!
Respect is the fundamental basis of any friendship and these two know that, because in that first meeting, Herman didn’t bite him and Lundy didn’t bite him. That first scene was captured in a photo and in Sue’s memory.
From that first moment they share everything together, their appointments with the doctor, their lunch and play hours.
It’s more until they wake up in the morning!
In other circumstances, most likely both animals could have had a sad end due to their disabilities , but fortunately they received the help of Sue, who dedicates her days to rescuing pets born with some “deficiency”, many of which would have been euthanized without her intervention. .
“Our main goal is to foster animals with birth defects. But people also bring us injured birds and squirrels on occasion,” the woman said.
their friendship is amazing
This couple of friends has fallen in love with so many people that finally everything took an unexpected turn. Sue she decided to leave Lundy in the organization, without thinking that the decision taken at that time would favor the physical and psychological well-being of the furry boy later on.
Recently, they realized that it was the best decision they could make because of some sad news: an X-ray confirmed the vet’s fears. There will be no treatment or surgery that will give little Lundy a chance to walk normally. They trust that the disease will not progress so that he can continue playing and sharing with his friend Herman.
It is good to know that there are still people with a good heart, willing to give a helping hand to the animals that need it most. Lundy and Herman will continue to have the best times together, because there is no “flaw” that prevents their genuine friendship.
It is a beautiful story of unconditional friendship. Remember that there are many disabled animals that need your help, open the doors of your heart to them.
