Generally on our first day at work we tend to feel somewhat insecure because we are not used to the processes, functions and people. But for a rescue puppy in the United Kingdom it was the opposite, his first day set a precedent and his feat will be remembered for a long time .

Not everyone has such a successful first day at work.

Max is a beautiful 2-year-old German Shepherd mix dog, cared for by police officer Peter Lloyd who is his handler. In February he completed his police dog training phase attached to Dyfed-Powys Police .

On her first day of work, she had to face a great challenge, helping to rescue a mother who had disappeared along with her little son , just one year old.

It was necessary to work very quickly, according to the reports of Inspector Jonathan Rees-Jones, the woman had not heard or seen her for two days , and to top it off her phone did not work, there was simply no time to waste.

Search and rescue specialists alongside the animal were busily working on the case. Any indication was important and could not be neglected. The discovery of the mother’s car provided a good sign in the case .

“Thanks to excellent work between teams, the woman’s car was quickly found on a mountain road,” authorities said in a statement issued to the press.

But that was not enough, it was just a beginning and from there more clues had to be obtained and linked to lead them to the whereabouts . Every inch of the land had to be carefully checked until they were found safe and sound.

“Although this gave officers a location to launch the search, there was still a large area to cover given the amount of time she had been missing,” the officials added.

The prepared and courageous search party had an excellent mountain rescue team, a police helicopter and several additional ground support units, which were strategically deployed over the rugged terrain.

It was a very complicated mission

But the work contributed by the rookie puppy was decisive in the operation , and precisely his group located the people. The agents began to wave to the others to point them to a steep ravine and the mountainside where they were trapped and to indicate where they should go down for them.

“I was very pleased that, during our first operational deployment as a dog team, Max and I were able to safely locate the missing mother and baby ,” Rees-Jones recounted.

Those rescued were in good general condition and safe, and all the policemen were overjoyed for the work they had done together with Max. And at that point he began his successful career as a rescuer of the hardy pup.
