“Fossilized” ancient coin jars of feudal dynasties in Vietnam have been collected by Mr. Huynh Minh Hiep over the years.
The money jar dates back to the 15th century, during the Le Dynasty and was dug in Thanh Hoa 26 years ago.
After nearly 30 years of collecting, Mr. Hiep owns nearly 20 types of monolithic coins dating from the 1st to 19th centuries.
The monolithic coin collection of Mr. Huynh Minh Hiep (Phu Nhuan district, Ho Chi Minh City) holds many historical values and cultural imprints of Vietnam through the ages.
He bought blocks of money from many provinces and cities from North to South. According to Mr. Hiep, ancient money was often buried in jars and jars for a long time, so it often stuck together to form large blocks as hard as rocks and often had strange shapes.
“Antique enthusiasts often call this ‘fossil money’ because it is very rare. When I bought it, I left it in its original form. If I removed each coin, it would be very fragile and no longer valuable,”
Large strings of money during the reign of King Minh Mang (1820 – 1841) were found in Tien Giang.
Coins from around the 17th century form unique shapes, found in Bac Ninh.
