Future technology: Feast your eyes on concept yachts

Superyacht concepts come in all shapes and sizes, from evolutionary designs that subtly push style to super radical ideas that challenge traditional designs. Below is a collection of some of the most uplifting ideas from yacht design studios around the world.

Pagurus

Yacht

Newly revealed by Lazzarini Design, this 25-meter solar-powered catamaran is inspired by the shape of a giant crab. Based on a military ship, Pagurus’s hull is designed with vertical screws that help the yacht move even on sandy or muddy terrain. The living quarters, can accommodate a total of eight guests and four crew.

Project Galileo²

Yacht

Penned by Beiderbeck Designs, the 200-metre-long marina project aims to “push the limits of what is possible”. The company said the catamaran has a methanol propulsion system. Key features include a retractable restaurant and a dock area with an 80 meter long dock and all the amenities of a fully equipped marina. The Galileo² project has storage for up to 25 speedboats, submersibles and toys, and boasts an outdoor cinema, hospital and 500 m2 swimming pool. On-berth accommodation for a total of 38 guests and 75 crew.

Vanguard

Yacht

Lazzarini Design also wrote the 137-meter swan-inspired superyacht concept Avanguardia. Named after its English meaning of ‘pioneer’, the concept features an expandable control tower that resembles the head of a swan. The control tower or bridge, used to operate the yacht, is movable by means of an extendable crane. The head can even be detached from the yacht completely and used as a separate 16 meter boat. Spread across five decks, Avanguardia accommodates 24 guests, 10 crew and 12 wait staff.

A step

Yacht

Written inside and out by Ricky Smith Designs, the futuristic 80-meter superyacht concept Solis features a curvaceous profile and a sleek superstructure made from aluminum and carbon fiber. Powered by electricity, the Solis features multiple integrated panels that create a large canopy over the sundeck, which also includes a spa pool, sports court, sports bar and brasserie. Elsewhere, there is a “coniferous helipad” aft on the upper deck and a 75 square meter balcony overlooking the main deck swimming pool.

Codecasa Jet 2020

Yacht

A 70-meter yacht inspired by Codecasa’s future superyacht design, Codecasa Jet 2020 is equipped with stylistic features “borrowed” from the world of aviation design, including an extended sundeck backwards to remind of the “tail of an airplane”. Additional inspiration is present in the yacht’s air intakes, designed to recall jet engines, and the radar antennas within carbon fiber canopies that replicate those on AWACS aircraft. Other features include “vast exterior and interior spaces,” a swimming pool and a covered gym.

Project L

Yacht

Novelty from French designer Thierry Gaugain is the “ultra-modern” 120-meter superyacht concept Project L. Inspired by “the smooth shape of a beach pebble,” Project L can be fully opened. complete to connect directly to the ocean. Equipped with a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion package, Project L is designed to “glide” through the water. Futuristic features include a high-tech underwater media room, driver’s garage and submarine escape pod.

A prodigy

Yacht

Penned by Lazzarini Design, the Prodigium is 153 meters long, stretches across six different decks and can carry a total of eight speedboats in two garages, as well as three helicopters. Made from carbon and aluminum, the upper deck is specifically designed to resemble a shark, while the lower deck features two Roman-patterned columns to support the structure above. Elsewhere, the yacht has three swimming pools with waterfalls cascading from each elevated pool into the deck pool below.

Morgana girl

Yacht

This radical 70-meter yacht concept from Monaco designer George Lucian aims to raise awareness of climate change in the Arctic. Named Fata Morgana, the expedition concept is equipped with an ice-class hull and is designed to sail in Arctic regions. Key features include a snow-inspired bow shape, an outdoor swimming pool, a sky observatory and a helipad. Designed for ultra-low emissions, Fata Morgana will be equipped with devices capable of instantly monitoring and transmitting the ocean’s temperature. Accommodation on board will be for a total of 12 guests and 18 crew members.

Hypnosquid

Yacht

Like its curious name, Roberto Curtó’s 63.2 meter long Hypnosquid also has a unique design. When planning the yacht’s exterior with SuperYachtsMonaco, Curtó drew inspiration from the shape of a cuttlefish and the “elegant, agile” character of the underwater creature. A key exterior design feature is the line of colored LED windows, which represent the cuttlefish’s eyes and accent the main deck.

Hypnosquid, with room for 10 guests and 12 crew, also has an onboard garden, massage center and cinema room. Special highlights include the jacuzzi’s waterfall and dining area, where guests can watch the chef at work right in the lobby during their meal.

Elyon

Yacht

As the largest design ever by husband and wife team Demetrius and Dana Tanase (also known as Expleo Design), the 110 meter long Elyon has a simple but ambitious philosophy: “Aim for the highest”. This approach is reflected in the multitude of features on board, with both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spas, gym and wellness areas, and even a gaming room.

The striking exterior is inspired by calm waves and features an inverted bow shape. Accommodation is for up to 30 guests and the hull is designed for a top speed of 18 knots.

Wind Motion

Yacht

French naval architect Mathis Rühl has introduced a new 70m superyacht concept called Wind Motion. As with his previous R77 sailing yacht concept, the key innovation lies in the uprights, which feature a rotating double wing equipped with foldable sails. Fully automatic, this system will provide the main power of the yacht even in moderate wind conditions.

Unlike the R77, the Wind Motion has a central pivot point that supports two slats, reducing weight and vibration, increasing aerodynamic efficiency and freeing up more deck space. What’s more, Rühl explains that the piers could be fitted with wind turbines to charge the yacht’s batteries while at anchor.

Besides functionality, Wind Motion boasts striking aesthetics with a reverse-angle transom wave nose and a curved superstructure inlaid with glass panels. Outdoor relaxation options are plentiful with space for sun loungers on both the veranda and aft deck, while the superyacht’s sun deck features a central skylight surrounded by teak. Other details are currently being kept under wraps with no revelations about the interior layout, engine installation or total horsepower.

Charon

Yacht

Inspired by 17th-century pirate ships, the 58-meter Caronte is the latest bold idea from the board of Italian studio Lazzarini Design. The multi-purpose parking tower area is six meters above the water level, with a large space inside, with enough room for two luxury cars to be stored in the rear garage.

Moving onto the main deck, the dining area includes a rectangular table that seats ten guests to enjoy a meal. Other major features include a helipad on the upper deck, a 4.5 meter spa pool and a hidden superyacht gym forward. The feasibility of such a concept yacht is debatable.

Project Origami

Yacht

Traditional Asian sailboats, as well as the eponymous art of origami, inspired this 100-meter yacht concept from Monaco-based artist George Lucian, who admits that it is at its “limit.” of modern technology and innovation”.

Origami elements include a deck section next to the ship’s side that folds to create a helipad, and a superyacht-inspired lounge with observation glass. Moving further forward is a mast that rises from the center of the pool culminating in a crow’s nest design for 360-degree views of the sea.

Lucian added: “The project is designed for an owner who is not afraid to step away from the traditional sailing yacht silhouette and go beyond anything that has been designed before, in terms of design, technology and hull. environmentally friendly.”

Age of intimacy

Yacht

Expleo Design’s first concept, the 100-meter Intimisea yacht, emphasizes wide open spaces. This can be seen in the vast aft deck with its huge swimming pool, which can be accessed directly from the upper deck via four slipways.

Other highlights include a helipad, owner’s deck, gym, 45-person movie theater, and even an onboard casino. Accommodation is for 12 guests and 25 crew, while the hull is designed for a cruising speed of 16 knots.

White Mountain

Yacht

Starting with fresh ideas, Mauna Kea is the new 101 meter superyacht concept of Italian designer Roberto Curtó. Named after a dormant Hawaiian volcano, this clever design features two grand staircases that slope gently from the upper deck to the main deck, resembling lava flows from a recently erupted mountain peak. The rear sports staircase is a fun touch – a central waterslide allows guests to splash into the pool below, which is surrounded by seven sun panels.

Although the design is still in the concept stage, it has already caught the eye of brokerage firm SuperYachtsMonaco and potential shipbuilding partner Fincantieri Yachts. Furthermore, Italian naval architecture studio Navirex helped develop the steel-hulled vessel, which is designed with a maximum speed of 16.5 knots and a maximum range of 6,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. .

neWWave

Yacht

Inspired by Middle Eastern culture and modern architecture, the 87-metre neWWave yacht breaks convention with its aluminum superstructure. Designer Jaehoon Ahn has created this impeccable exterior styling, creating interesting shadows, both on deck and in the interior spaces, which benefit from 3.6 meters of headroom for the 3,600GT overall.

The yacht creates a visual blur through its layout, with a dedicated prayer room with large voids, a suite and owner’s suite on multiple floors.

Comprising four large aft decks with a 10 meter aft deck swimming pool, outdoor fireplace, outdoor dining area and spa pool. The propulsion system has not been revealed at this stage, but neWWave’s Palmer Johnson-inspired hull has been designed to achieve a top speed of 16 knots.

Era

Yacht

Created by Ricky Smith as a statement of progressive superyacht design, Era is an 80 meter yacht concept that immediately attracts attention with its dramatic reverse bow deck, superstructure stacked and straight lines. Stuart Friezer Marine Naval Architects developed the underwater configuration, which has been tested at Shanghai University, showing it can reach a top speed of 25 knots.

Accommodation is for 20 guests and 24 crew, and key features include the superyacht’s beach club, main deck swimming pool and canoe garage. Meanwhile, the superyacht’s helipad on the upper deck makes full use of the Era’s 13-metre parking area, meaning a Bell 427 or Eurocopter EC145 can be carried with ease.

Taboo

Designed to enter the world of yachting, the 90 meter expedition yacht Taboo concept was developed by Gill Schmid Design and Tim Dempers Studio. Both polar and tropical destinations are within the long-range capabilities of this ice-class design.

Yacht

The Taboo is capable of carrying a range of smaller vessels allowing its owner to explore the most remote corners of the planet, including planes, helicopters, submarines and jet skis, not forgetting a range of high-class canoes. luxurious.

The monochrome exterior style features extensive use of one-way glass; offering panoramic views from owners and VIP suites without compromising privacy. Accommodations are for 26 guests and 40 crew, but the star of the ship is a supersized swimming pool surrounded by fish tanks so your guests can literally swim with the fish.

Dare To Dream

Yacht

This 140 meter yacht is as ambitious as its name suggests. Another design by George Lucian, Dare To Dream is aimed at forward-thinking superyacht owners, aviation enthusiasts as well as yachting enthusiasts. A huge aft deck dominates this pioneering design, with a helipad and circular swimming pool. Guest accommodations are provided on the lower deck, as well as a saloon for enjoying anything from evening cocktails to formal meals.

Take a seat

Yacht

Montreal-based designer Charles Bombardier is the mind behind this wild superyacht concept, which aims to mimic the movements of whales. Its two submerged hulls create waves to drive the yacht forward, while the extended aft section creates the stability of the design. Bombardier worked with industrial designer Martin Rico to create Seataci, which features a pair of swimming pools and a tropical garden.

Bubble

Yacht

Designed by Italian studio BFMV, Bolla is a 65-meter superyacht concept that won the bronze award in the yachts and ships category at the 2015 A’Design Awards. The designers’ aim was to connect space. gas and water inspired both the prominent spherical bubble at the center of the symmetrical superstructure and the name (which means ‘bubble’ in Italian).

Bolla will have a diving center and a vegetable garden on board to further enhance the cruise ship’s close relationship with nature. BFMV also plans for a customized superyacht’s canoe that will closely reflect the mother ship’s design.

Hareide Design 108m concept

Yacht

With the 108 meter concept, Norwegian studio Hareide Design sought to shift the focus from admiring the interior to enjoying the surroundings.

This wild superyacht concept therefore includes a seamless transition to the water with a gently sloping slide, as well as a large multi-functional saloon providing uninterrupted views.

Black Swan

Yacht

Turkish designer Timur Bozca is the brains behind this unique-looking superyacht concept that goes beyond the conventional and embraces dark tones through its minimalist interior.

Black Swan is designed with a surrounding helipad with a path, from which guests can descend inside via a hidden elevator. Plenty of outdoor relaxation space is provided by the expansive aft deck, complete with 12 sun loungers and an infinity pool, while two forward balconies provide unobstructed sea views.

Triangular windows in the hull help illuminate the interior, which includes accommodation for up to 12 people, divided into a master suite and six guest cabins.

Based in the Turkish coastal town of Kas, Timur Bozca rose to prominence last year when he won the Young Designer of the Year award at the ShowBoats Design Awards 2015. His work, Project Cauta, is a 55 meter long design.

Shaddai

Yacht

Inspired by the growing trend of swimming pools on superyachts, Shaddai is a 150-meter yacht concept by Gabriele Teruzzi that offers owners the most beautiful views from their home.

The impressive superstructure includes a 105 square meter master suite and swimming area suspended 38 meters above the main aft deck. And with such a commanding cockpit, it’s easy to see why the concept is named after the Hebrew word for omnipotence.

Tropical Island Paradise

Yacht

The team at Yacht Island Design were tasked with creating an idyllic island getaway – but on a yacht. The result is called Tropical Island Paradise.

The massive exterior main deck includes several features of a tropical island paradise, including a giant swimming pool, cabanas and bar. But the standout feature is the volcano, with a waterfall flowing into the swimming pool. The owner’s duplex is cut into the side of the volcano, with views across the bow from behind the waterfall.

The yacht has a large aft deck with a helipad. Also out of sight is the beach bathing deck, which folds down from the stern to create a relaxation area above sea level. Perfect for private island owners who always wish they could take their island home with them.

Tetra

Yacht

Is it a bird, is it a plane? No, but the superyacht Tetrahedron can glide. If your first thought is “That will never happen,” think again. Designs for the Tetrahedron have been around for a while, but its designer, Jonathan Schwinge, is looking to collaborate on this wild yacht design.

At rest, or low, speed, the carbon fiber Tetra is effectively a decorative piece, floating on three lower hulls. In terms of speed, it can reach speeds of up to 38 knots. It also works because it is based on an existing hull design from Marine Applied Physics in the US. Although only 21.6 meters long, its unusual shape ensures plenty of volume, providing accommodation for six guests and four crew.

CF8

Yacht

CF8 Future is an 80 meter superyacht concept from Dutch studio Sea Level Yacht Design. CF8 stands for “Cars and Family in 80 meters”. Part of the yacht is a car showroom, the CF8 can house a collection of cars for passersby to admire. Large centerline structures support the decks – this allows the yacht to be encased in a layer of glass that lets light into the massive interior.

Star

Yacht

A yacht shaped like the top half of a star, the concept was designed by Lobanov Design and with naval architecture by BMT Nigel Gee.

This aptly named 132-meter yacht, Star, is taller than many yachts, measuring nearly 60 meters from the water to the top of the point.

Four elevators provide access across eight decks, perfect for party-loving guests who can enjoy the views from the top or from the underwater viewing area.

Jazz

Yacht

Architect Zaha Hadid is famous for bringing light to everything. Among the concepts developed for Blohm + Voss is a 90-meter yacht concept that she named Jazz. The structural supports were moved to the outside to open up the palatial interior.

This thought-provoking design pushes the interaction between inside and outside to the extreme, recalling the shapes of marine creatures.

The exterior aids in freeing the interior for large, uninterrupted spaces, a principle that Hadid applied in many of her tower constructions.

The Streets of Monaco

Yacht

Yacht Island Design created this 155-meter SWATH vessel concept called the Monaco Street. The naval architecture was produced by the British company BMT Nigel Gee. The design features several famous landmarks from the Mediterranean principality, including the Hotel de Paris and the Casino on the upper floor.

One of the most ambitious concepts, The Streets of Monaco features a fully functional go-kart track based on the famous grand prix track. Visitors will be able to race like an F1 driver through the tunnel, across the swimming pool and try not to crash while going around La Rascasse.

The Grand Atrium serves as the yacht’s hub, linking the various living areas. The ornate spiral staircase is the focal point, surrounded by a waterfall feature fed by a glass-bottomed fountain from the garden above.
