Lázaro, a puppy that was an unbearable 16 kg ball of matted hair, knew love and the most miraculous transformation, thanks to the rescuers who found him and changed his life.

He is a sweet white puppy, but his life used to be very difficult.  The pup  received very little care from his former owners , and one of the worst damages was that they allowed his fur to grow to unimagined levels.

The furry little one couldn’t even move through the great tangle of tangles. Every movement he made caused him a lot of pain, with the tangled hairs pulling at his skin.

Lázaro hadn’t had a haircut for seven years!

Luckily, many people close to the Big Fluffy Dog Rescue found out about his case, and decided that something had to be done to help the poor animal and return him to an active and healthy life.

Every hot summer was a huge danger for Lazarus as his huge fur was the equivalent of a huge winter coat and he could die from the heat.

“I can’t imagine how he managed to survive the heat,” said his heroes.

Lázaro could have perished from heat stroke at any time.

The dog’s former owners handed him over to rescuers without resistance , accepting that they had not done a good job caring for Lazaro.

Once they got his permission, they took him out of the barn and prepared to shave him clean. This was the only option to be able to give the poor puppy a decent lifestyle.

One of the rescuers is a professional human hairstylist, so she was the one who took the lead in shaving the pup.

When they managed to remove all the fur, they were shocked. They weighed it and verified that the little one had been carrying almost 16 kilos of tangled and neglected fur .

But the result was incredible, Lázaro looked like another puppy, he looked healthier and happier but he still had a long way to go to recover.

Among the 16 Kg there were not only hairs, but also a lot of dirt, straw and even fecal matter.

In addition to the problem with his fur, he had a broken tail, skin irritation problems, wounds on his ears, and some tumors that had to be checked.

How is it possible that its former owners have neglected it so much? It’s something we can never understand!

Lázaro had a very difficult time walking, since his muscles had been damaged by the enormous weight of the fur.

Currently, the cute puppy is living in the garage of one of the rescuers where he will be able to regain the strength to walk and adapt to the world.

“ Her eyes are getting brighter . He increasingly seeks more affection, and little by little he looks more secure and strong in his walk. Sometimes it seems that he is easily overwhelmed, so let’s keep up with him , ”the rescuers mention him.

Until he makes a full recovery, Lazarus will continue in the hands of his rescuers. Once he shows himself more adapted, they hope to be able to find a permanent home where he receives all the love and care that he so deserves.

We raise our voices against sad cases of animal neglect like this, which subject poor animals to terrible danger and pain. But we are glad to know about the happy endings thanks to the rescuers who appear at the right moment to change their lives.

We need to help raise awareness about the necessary care for puppies like Lázaro. No puppy deserves to go through such neglect.
