This highly modified jumbo jet, known as the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, was originally built to transport shuttle orbiters for various purposes, including ferrying them back to the Kennedy Space Center after landings at alternative sites.

On September 19, 2012, millions of people across the United States gathered to witness the historic flight. The Boeing 747, with the Endeavour securely mounted atop its fuselage, took off from the Kennedy Space Center. The sight of a space shuttle cruising gracefully through the skies on the back of a jumbo jet was nothing short of mesmerizing.

The aircraft made several stops along the way, including flyovers of NASA facilities, historic landmarks, and cities such as Houston, Texas, and Tucson, Arizona.
