HENSOLDT, a leading provider of sensor solutions, has recently partnered with U.S. mission aircraft support supplier, Aerospac, Inc., based in Brooksville, Florida. This collaboration aims to enhance integrated and diversified mission support capabilities, particularly focusing on C-130 mission aircraft.
The partnership, formalized with a Memorandum of Understanding signed on September 20, 2023, brings together HENSOLDT’s “MissionGrid” portfolio of different sensor types and mission management systems with Aerospac’s SABIR System. The SABIR System, characterized by its modular architecture, allows for the integration of various mission-critical components that can be configured to adapt to diverse mission requirements, including airborne radar, COMINT (Communications Intelligence), ELINT (Electronic Intelligence) sensors, electro-optical sensors, and mission computers.
This collaboration is poised to deliver significant advantages for customers, such as reduced technical risk and shortened integration times. It offers a flexible, off-the-shelf solution suitable for various mission profiles, including intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), as well as maritime patrol and law enforcement operations.
Stefan Kolditz, Head of Airborne Solutions Business Unit at HENSOLDT, emphasized the longstanding track record of HENSOLDT in providing a wide range of sensors for ISR missions as well as mission management systems and avionics. He highlighted Aerospac’s versatile SABIR system as the perfect complement for offering exceptional mission package solutions tailored for C-130 customers worldwide, particularly those operating in low-intensity conflict environments.
Aerospac’s SABIR System encompasses a comprehensive set of modular components, including Doors, Robotic Struts, Mission Pods, Workstations, Avionics Racks, Crashworthy Seats, Power Modules, and more. The SABIR mission systems support a wide range of missions, including full-spectrum military operations, maritime patrol, surveillance, C5ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance), CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive) response, crisis response, command and control, and even scientific and environmental research.
Compatible with all C-130 models, the SABIR System can be installed as a permanent solution or as a temporary modification module between missions.
Aerospac operates as an agile, manufacturing, and problem-solving firm located near Tampa, Florida, USA, and Calgary, AB, Canada. The company focuses on engineering solutions to operational information collection, distribution, and general logistics problems for the defense and public safety markets.
As a technology leader, HENSOLDT continues to evolve its portfolio of defense electronics and optoelectronics, continually exploring innovative approaches to meet the demands of modern warfare, robotics, and cyber security. With more than 6,500 employees worldwide, HENSOLDT achieved a turnover of 1.7 billion euros in 2022 and is listed on the MDAX of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
