In Australia, a huge cane toad nicknamed “Toadzilla” was discovered, shocking rangers at Conway National Park in northern Queensland. This amphibian weighed a staggering 2.7 kilograms.

According to the Queensland Department of Environment and Science, rangers were clearing a trail when they discovered the toad.

Ranger Kylee Gray declared her team was “missing” for the “monstrous” cane toad, which weighed 2.7kg and is believed to be a female.

She described it as “almost like a soccer ball with legs” to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

“When we got back to base that afternoon, we weighed it and we weighed 2.7 kilos, which surprised us, it completely blew us away,” he said.

“We measured it and I think we got 255mm, but I think the Queensland Museum will do their measurements when they receive it.”

The Guinness World Record for the largest toad in history is 2.65 kg, which was set in 1991 by a pet toad in Sweden.

Ms Gray claimed that rangers had nicknamed the toad “Toadzilla” and that the museum would investigate whether it was the largest toad ever discovered.

According to WWF, cane toads are native to Central and South America and were introduced to Australia in 1935.

Toads feed primarily on live insects, but will consume anything they can find, including pet food and household scraps.
