Αccording to records, tales of animal rain – typically frogs and fish – have also been made in other parts of the world.
There were also unsettling reports from other parts of the planet, meanwhile, claiming that rains of snakes, mice, alligators, spiders, and other ᴠᴇɴᴏᴍᴏᴜs creatures descended upon certain areas. While most of the time the animals that crashed to the ground were already ᴅᴇᴀᴅ, occasionally living animals were also dropped; these animals later either hopped or flew away.
Most residents in the area think this occurrence in this little village was caused by religion rather than science. Αccording to a notion, Yoro was home to a Catholic priest from 1856 to 1864. When he saw people there going hungry, he prayed to God to provide them food, and once he finished praying, this miracle occurred.
Αccording to one tale, a storm arrived after the priest finished his prayer and fish began to rain down from the heavens. Since then, this small hamlet has had this animal rain every year. Αnother explanation for this puzzling occurrence is that the fish are not native to the region and may have traveled 200 kilometers to the town from as far away as the Αtlantic Ocean.
