These lovely wild creatures are kept as pets. And they are about to pass away.

Many animals that live in the wild are very vulnerable if they are removed from their habitat, not all animals can live in homes, much less are considered pets, because they need grow in a natural environment.

A woman goes to Wildlife Friends Thailand (WFFT) for a few animals she received as a gift last year, one of her relatives from the southern region Thailand brought her two animals as gifts.

She took the animals as pets; However, things did not turn out rosy as she expected, her relative from her southern region brought her a pair of Slow Loris which are a rare species of small primates.

These adorable animals with very large and expressive eyes suffer due to their tender appearance, as they are highly sought after and marketed as pets. This little animal is very fragile if taken out of its habitat.

When the woman brought her Slow Lorises to Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand they looked like something out of a horror movie , it was chilling to see the state these beautiful animals were in.

Phet and Reang, named after their owner, were in a very deplorable condition due to the trauma of being taken from their habitat and living as pets . The weak animals had spent about a month without eating well and looked very sick and fragile. .

“They were kept in a small cage in their home for a year until they both got very sick,” the WFFT wrote.

“At this point he realized he shouldn’t keep them as pets. The woman herself said that she had given them a diet of fruits, and that one of them had not eaten for a month… We were all shocked ».

Fortunately for this pair, the woman who had them realized that she could not take care of them and at the moment Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand is taking care of these two adorable little friends.

This beautiful species suffers a lot when they are stolen from their habitat to be sold as pets, many of these do not even survive the trauma caused by their captors and die from stress before being sold.

Both Slow Lorises are being cared for under the strict surveillance of Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand, one of them is stronger and his recovery is progressing a little faster; however, the weakest one is expected to survive as well, so it receives a little more special care.

The aid team hopes that beyond saving Phet and Reang, their story will serve as an example of how dangerous it can be for the lives of many species to be taken from their habitat to live as pets and that many of these do not survive.

Share this information in your networks and help raise awareness of the damage we can do by removing an animal from its environment… It’s much worse. than we imagined!
