Perry is a 10-year-old puppy who, after entering his old age, has had to face some health problems .
Unfortunately, his owners were not willing to deal with an old and sick puppy, so they decided to abandon him in the saddest way possible. He was tied to a sled with a heartbreaking note in front of a shelter.
The shelter is located in Cazenovia, New York.
When the workers from the Wanderer’s Rest Humane Association arrived at work it seemed strange to see a sled in front of the main entrance; As they approached, they came across a heartbreaking reality: a puppy had been abandoned, he was very scared and sick .
Apparently they left it the night before, it was accompanied by a cup of water and a note that reads:
“More than 10 years. I can’t walk anymore.”
The family did not mind leaving him after having shared the best years of his youth with him. Now that he was old and sick, he needed them more than ever, but they were no longer there for him.
Without understanding everything the puppy was going through, he was remarkably sad , fortunately now he was with the right people.
It would be a long process of treatment and recovery but everyone at the shelter was willing to do everything possible to heal him and see him walk again .
It was they who called him Perry and insisted on improving his quality of life. Mason Groesbeck , coordinator of the rescue organization, said:
“He couldn’t move. She was very sad “.
Perry’s story so shocked the shelter staff that they decided to start legal proceedings , but first they had to locate his former owner, so they shared a photo of the puppy on Facebook . The post reads:
“If anyone recognizes this dog, please contact us as soon as possible. He was left outside our shelter at some point in the night tied to the sled, that’s abandonment.”
Nothing justifies that a defenseless little animal is abandoned , this is a cruel and inhuman act that should not be tolerated.
If you cannot take care of him or finance any treatment, asking for help is always the best, it is not necessary to add even greater emotional pain to his physical injuries . Therefore, the organization took the opportunity to raise awareness:
“If someone cannot take care of their pet, we can help them directly, there is no need to abandon it.”
Fortunately, Perry’s story won thousands of hearts, people from all over donated to help pay for medical bills and everything needed for his recovery.
In a short time, he had started physical therapies, with a lot of patience and infinite love he began to walk again .
In each therapy Perry shows new advances:
The following days Perry had progressed satisfactorily, he was welcomed by his physiotherapist, who has been in charge of pampering him and giving him lots of love.
The good news kept coming, Perry’s former owner was identified and accused of abandonment , the investigation is still ongoing. We want justice done.
His foster family has made him the darling of the house.
Currently, Perry continues in the process of recovery in his foster home , as soon as he is ready he will be put up for adoption. He still has a lot of energy and love to give. He hopefully spends the rest of his golden years enjoying a real family.
This story reminds us that having a puppy is a responsibility and for life. Not just for a passing moment of passion and enjoyment. Adopt responsibly and transform a life. Share!
