Old farmer Yongxiu and his eight-legged ріɡ
This ріɡ belongs to a litter of 8 born from a ріɡ mother from a farm located in the Nam Xuyen district.
Farmer Yongxiu (63 years old) said that on August 2, after returning from work, his wife told him that “our father just gave birth to a 6-legged monster.” However, when he cried towards the flag to check and clean all the dirt, he discovered that it was actually a piglet with 8 legs. In addition to the usual 4 legs, under the head of the piglet there are 2 additional legs protruding forward about 4 cm and 2 additional hind legs about 8 cm, dragging towards the ground.
Mr. Yongxiu said that in his 20 years of working as a livestock farmer, he had never seen such strange animals.
Guo Zongyi, director of the Chongqing Institute of Animal Science, said he often sees animals with 5 legs because one leg develops from another leg, but he has never actually seen 8 legs. Mr. Guo believes that the cause of the deformity may be due to cross-breeding or genetic mutation.
Apart from the difference in legs, the other characteristics of this piglet are the same as those of its siblings. Instead of raising it for meat, Mr. Youungxiu decided to keep it for research.
Currently, this young pig continues to eat and grow like his other siblings, without showing any abnormalities.
